RurAL CAP VISTA VCMP Program
The Volunteers in Service to America Village Council Management Program,
sponsored by RurAL CAP and the Corporation for National and Community Service,
is a community service program designed to help rural Alaskan communities
build their management and administrative capacity, encourage and enhance
community self-sufficiency, and develop local solutions to local problems
through volunteer service. Ten VCMP positions are available each year to
rural Alaskans interested in serving their villages full-time as a VISTA
member.
2007 VCMP AmeriCorps Accomplishments:
- 252 community volunteers recruited by members
- 3,794 hours of service were completed by community volunteers
- $19,000 in funding secured by VISTA members for their communities.
