The AmeriCorps Scholarship
This scholarship honors the significant intercultural and professional contribution made by AmeriCorps volunteers. Volunteers who have completed one year (10 to 12 months) of service are eligible for the competitively awarded $5,000 scholarship. The award is based on the type of work completed during service as well as the candidate's experience before and after work with AmeriCorps.

Community Service and Volunteer Scholarship
This scholarship is awarded in recognition of work done with an organization engaged in community service. Recipients should have worked for one year or longer for organizations such as AmeriCorps (see website for complete listing: http://www.sit.edu/graduate/finaid/scholarships.html)

SIT also has what is called SIT Master's Community Development Program with AmeriCorps*VISTA. Students wishing to participate in the AmeriCorps*VISTA partnership apply to VISTA during SIT's on-campus phase (September to May). If they are accepted, their VISTA service will meet SIT's professional practicum requirement. In addition, qualified alumni of VISTA who wish to earn an SIT master's degree after the completion of their service are eligible for SIT scholarship opportunities (for more information, see our Financial Aid web pages. AmeriCorps alumni, who have completed a full-time term of service and who qualify for the education award of $4,725, can apply to Southeastern University ($50 application fee will be waived), and upon acceptance will receive a matching scholarship of $1,000. 

Candidates with a GPA of 3.0 or higher will automatically be eligible for additional scholarships offered through the university. 

Furthermore, candidates for the undergraduate program will receive up to nine (9) credits towards completing his/her degree at Southeastern University for completing a full service year in an AmeriCorps program.

AmeriCorps alumni may pursue degree(s) on campus or via the extensive online course offerings.

In conjunction with the National Corporation for National and Community Service, the Office of Financial Aid and Scholarship Programs will award a scholarship (combined with Syracuse University Merit Scholarships if applicable) equal to at least one half of the cost of tuition to qualified students who have participated in the AmeriCorps program. This scholarship is awarded in recognition of academic potential, involvement in community activities and leadership. There is no limit to the number of awards made on an annual basis and the scholarship is renewable for four (4) years according to standard scholarship renewal policies at Syracuse University.

To apply for this scholarship, students must submit a statement of participation that is endorsed by their AmeriCorps program director. This statement must be submitted to the Office of Financial Aid and Scholarship Programs at the time of application to the University. The deadline for submission of the statement of participation is February 1.
