Aniak Winter Carnival

March 15, 2007

Jenny Nicoli - Aniak

Our Winter Carnival was from March 15th-17th. On the 16th we had a Turkey Shoot and a Kids' Dance. There were a lot of kids at the dance. That day we got our new lights, so they were excited about them. They also had a Basketball Tournament that was put on by the seniors, which went from Friday until Sunday.

Saturday was our big day. We had a bonfire at a place called "the point." That day was fun. We had hotdogs, hamburgers, chips, and soda. There were quite a few people that went down. We got skis from the school and had a couple of games. While all that was happening they were having food and arts & crafts for sale at the Community Hall. Everything that day ended around 4 PM, but the basketball games were still going on. Then the Aniak Traditional Council had a Bingo-Rama. That same evening we had fireworks where we had a bonfire. The fireworks were so awesome; some people even said they were better than Anchorage! After the fireworks we had a community dance, which was ok. And that's what happened during our carnival.
